Linda Pryor
Linda Pryor, Receptionist, joined the Brown-Wynne staff in 2003. Linda is a graduate of Needham Broughton High School. Linda's interests include working with animal rescue groups. She currently volunteers with the Chatham Pet Therapy Group ad Triangle Sheltie Rescue.
 

Clyde G. Queen
Clyde G. Queen, Senior Funeral Director for Brown-Wynne, has served in funeral service since 1961, becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1967. Clyde joined the staff of Brown-Wynne in 1984. A native of Gastonia, NC, Clyde is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He is past president of the N.C. State Board of Mortuary Science, and past president of the Raleigh Sales & Marketing Executives Association. He is a member of the Grace Community Church where he has served as an Elder, greeter and usher. Clyde is also a member of the West Raleigh Rotary Club, A. E. Finley YMCA, Millbrook Masonic Lodge and the Capital City Club.

Clyde has been married to the former Luana Lovin since 1965. They have two daughters, Melanie Champion and Amy Barbour; and three grandchildren, Logan Barbour, Regan Barbour, Sophie Grace Barbour and Shelby Champion.

Clyde's interests include painting, yard work and golf.
 


James Rees
Jim Rees joined the Brown-Wynne staff in October of 2007 shortly after graduating from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science. Jim is currently serving in our Central Care and Crematory Center. Prior to moving to Raleigh, Jim lived in Cincinnati, Ohio while attending college. In Cincinnati, Jim worked for a local funeral home learning the details of the funeral industry. Jim was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, but lived in central Ohio for many years.

     He enjoys golfing, reading, and riding his motorcycle in his spare time and looks forward to serving the Raleigh community.

 

Carolyn Shropshire
Carolyn Shropshire, Staff Specialist III, is a native of Wake County. She has served the Brown-Wynne Millbrook location since 1992. She is a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Raleigh. She has one son, Chuck Hinton and three grandchildren, Justin, Emily and Alison. Carolyn enjoys singing in the church choir, music, reading, gardening and people.
 

Clark C. Sides
A native of Asheboro, North Carolina, Clark is a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School. Clark joined Brown-Wynne in July 2007 and will be serving his Funeral Service Apprenticeship under the supervision of Joel Branch. Clark enjoys assisting families in their time of need and also learning about the different cultural views and religions that are found in the Triangle area.

Clark is a member of Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church in Asheboro, along with his parents Jim and Sharon and older sister January. He worked for a funeral home in Asheboro for one summer before beginning classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Clark and his sister owned C & J'S Kids Entertainment, performing at vacation bible schools, and birthday parties. They ended the company in 2003 so January could pursue a career in Machining Technology, and Clark began his interest in Funeral Services. Clark is a member of N.A.V.A (North American Ventriloquist Association) was a member of his high school choir for four years, was a member of the Honors Chorus his senior year and also acted in four plays. In his spare time Clark enjoys hunting, fishing, colleting antique firearms, spending time with friends, family, and his girlfriend Casey.
 

Laura J. Stewart
Laura J. Stewart, Secretary, joined the Brown-Wynne Staff in 2002. Laura holds a B.A. in Communications from NCSU. She and her husband, John W. Stewart, and their son, William, are members of St. Mary Mother of the Church, Garner, NC.

Laura volunteers with Special Olympics, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, where she serves as sports clinic coordinator and on the auction committee.

Her interests include spectator sports - football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. Laura enjoys writing, and meeting and party planning.
 

Sherrie L. Strickland
Sherrie Leeann Strickland, Funeral Director, joined the staff of Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes in 2004. A native of Alamance County, she is a 2000 graduate of Cummings High School in Burlington, NC. In 2002, she graduated with Dean's List honors from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA and received the Mu Sigma Alpha Award. While at Gupton-Jones, Sherrie was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta honor fraternity where she served as Junior Artist and was a Student Council member serving as Faculty Liaison and Parliamentarian.

She received her N.C. Funeral Service license in October 2003.

Sherrie is an avid Carolina Fan who enjoys watching ACC Basketball. She is an animal lover who has two cats, Barnie and Marbles and three turtles.

Her hobbies include listening to music, shopping, reading and spending time with family and friends.
 

Patsy Martin Tilley
Patsy Martin Tilley, receptionist, recently joined the staff of Brown-Wynne. A native of Zebulon, NC, Patsy is a graduate of Zebulon High School. She is married to Jerry Tilley, and they have two children, Bryan and Jennifer. Patsy is a member of Faith Baptist Church. Her interests include shopping for antiques, cooking and baking.
 

Lucius Turner
Lucius Turner, Staff Specialist III, has faithfully served Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes since 1969. A native of Johnston County, NC, Lucius has worked in the funeral industry for forty-five years. He and his wife, Judy Ann Palmer Turner, are members of Lincoln Park Holiness Church in Raleigh.
 

Al Wade
Alvin Morris Wade, Staff Specialist II.
Al is a N.C. Native from Snow Hill in Greene County. He was raised as a farmer. He later joined IBM and retired with 26 years of service. He has served Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes since 1992. Al raised 4 sons in Cary where he still resides with his wife, Janice.

Al is active in his church, Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, and enjoys his grandchildren.

He is Past Master of Cary Masonic Lodge, enjoys tinkering in his shop, the beach, time with family, music and parties with friends.
 

Janice Poteat Wade
Receptionist
Janice Poteat Wade, a native of Morganton, NC, has been associated with the funeral industry for 14 years. She joined Brown-Wynne in 1996.

Janice graduated from Salem High School and Central Piedmont Community College. Currently, she is the assistant to the Special Education Director and Special Olympics Coordinator at Apex Middle School. She is a past member of the North Carolina Special Olympics Board where she coordinated State games at UNC Charlotte.

A member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, Janice serves as usher and greeter, and in 2002, pioneered the Sunshine Class for adults with special needs.

Janice's special interests include reading, traveling and playing piano.

She is married to Alvin Wade and has two sons, four stepsons, and seven grandchildren.

Lisa Wiseman Williams
Family Service Manager
Lisa is originally from Norfolk, Virginia and Beckley, West Virginia.  She has spent the last 20 years living in southern Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina.  She is a Licensed Funeral Director in the State of North Carolina, an honors graduate of Fayetteville Community College mortuary science program, and also has a Fine Arts Diploma from Woodrow Wilson High School.  Lisa comes from a history of funeral directing, her father was employed by and also assisted in the construction of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Homes in Beckley, West Virginia.  She has worked on the planning and running of new funeral homes in the North Carolina area.

Lisa currently serves as the Family Service Manager for the three Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes.  This involves her making connections and building bridges within the community and with the families we serve.  The Family Service Department is here to help educate the community of their options is pre-planning and making meaningful ceremonies for their loved ones.

She also serves on local community boards.  She is currently serving as the Administrative Director for the Life Decision Coalition of Wake County; takes an active role with Hospice of Wake County, and also helps with area retirement communities’ activities.  She is a member of the Capital Church in Garner, NC where she has developed children’s ministry programs and also served as a teacher.   She finds her career as a funeral director very rewarding in the fact that she is helping people during one of the worst times of their life.


 

Jean Messer Wood
Jean Messer Wood, Accounts Receivable Coordinator, has served Brown-Wynne since 1992. A native of Johnston County, Jean is a graduate of Benson High School. Jean is a member of Benson Free-Will Baptist Church. She has two children, Laura Johnson and Joe Wood, and three grandchildren, Garrett and Nash Johnson and Meah Wood. Jean's interests include listening to music, dancing, playing card games and scrabble. She enjoys family and friends, working, assisting in the care of elderly parents, and visiting the nursing home.
 

James (Jim) E. Zubko
Jim is a licensed funeral director who serves as Family Service Counselor for the Brown-Wynne Group. Jim graduated and served as Funeral Director in Chicago, IL and joined the Dignity team in September 2008, he and his daughter Katie have lived in Raleigh since 2001. Jim is a parishioner of Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church, he enjoys golf, fishing and hiking in his spare time. Before Jim joined the team he worked for US Airways for 19 years, owned his own retail business and also served in the insurance industry. Jim enjoys working with the families that we serve in their time of need and in helping to educate them on the many options and benefits that Dignity Memorial has available to them.
